Karachi style hunter beef burger/ Desi pulled beef sandwich.
This is a favourite recipe for Eid Al adha or really any time of the year when u want some really flavour full burgers or taosties.
You can make the pulled beef and freeze it. Just take it out on your busy days to make a filling meal.
If you want to avoid the carbs in bread and buns you can always make lettuce cups with the same pulled beef.
It’s a very forgiving and versatile recipe, u can add or reduce any spices you like and experiment with sauces according to your preference.
Step 1
Ingredients.
450 gms topside beef cubes (you can use any other beef cubes as well)
1 tsp salt
6 cloves garlic
2 inch piece of ginger crushed or pieces
2 hot green chilies
1 tsp Cumin seeds/ white zeera
1 stick cinnamon
1 Medium to large sized onion sliced
3 Cloves
6 Black pepper corn whole or crushed
1/2 tsp crushed Red chilli.
Boil all of the above in 3 cups water until tender. Add more water if required. Once the beef is tender, dry any left over water in the pot while mashing your cubes with the wooden spoon to shred them.
if the beef is still in big pieces, shred it with two forks or mash with masher to give that pulled beef look. You can also use your blender on its slowest setting. Works quiet well.
Step 2:
Ingredients
3 tbsp oil
1tbsp concentrated tomato paste
1/2 tsp Salt, red chili powder each
In a large size frying pan heat 3 tbsp oil, add a 1 tbsp of concentrated tomato paste plus 1 tbsp water. Fry and add very small cubes of capsicum, 1/2 tsp salt ( if needed) and 1/2 tsp Red chili powder..
Add all your pulled beef and mix thoroughly making sure all beef is fried and coated in the tomato and spice paste.
Taste test and adjust for salt or increase the spice level by adding more crushed red chili if desired.
Step 3
Burger buns/ slider buns/ sandwich bread
Cheese slices
1tbsp Mustard sauce
2tbsp Mayonnaise
2tbsp Ketchup
1tsp Sriracha sauce(optional)
Mix the above three sauces to make your sauce . Spread on toasted bread or buns, add hot pulled beef and top with cheese slice.
To prepare ahead of time.
Another way to make them for a large group of people is to use it in slider buns. Make all the sandwiches in the same manner as mentioned above without toasting your bread. Cover the sandwiches/sliders/ burgers with the cling wrap and store in fridge.
At the time of serving heat them in a pre heated oven at 170c° for at least 7 to 8 mins until cheese starts to melt. For best results take it out of fridge 30 mins before heating in the oven.
Sandwiches can be toasted on sandwich makers or sandwich press too.
School lunch idea
Freeze single sandwiches in cling wrap and take out for school lunches or office lunch a night before. Toast or heat them in your air fryer before packing it.
